The Quldafjordian scholars mark the year as 489 RB, as in it is the 489th year of the Age of the Fourth Clans. They mark this age by the initial formation of the Union of Quldafjord, a Union that has remained as well as changed in these 489 years. Prior to this, they mark 1506 years of the Age of the Third Clans, beginning with the first written record of the King of the Written Word, an important document in their archives that marks the best piece of history for determining the date of many events in that period. Prior to that, the Age of the Second Clans contains a period of history undetermined, of which civilisations existed but their records did not track dates well, or were damaged or not kept at all. And further to that, the Age of the First Clans speaks of a world beyond the known civilisations, when the Sjichan first emerged, when angels walked the world, when the world was still new and a babe in the greater expanse.

In Olivia, we mark the year as 246 AD - 246 years since the birth of the Emperor Dafyd I, the prophet and saint, and Emperor of the Valyean Empire from 28 AD to 63 AD. Prior to this, we marked the years by various methods, with many records coming from the Titanist Monastery of Numerology, of which they put the year of St. Dafyd's birth at around 1122. This year has lost its meaning over time and we are unable to determine what the initial count was from; 1122 years from what event? In current times, Olivian scholars will refer to years BD, before Dafyd's birth, such as 93 BD when the Ketta-Valya War began between Valyea and Kettel, and ended with Kettel entering the Valyean Empire (back then, not named as such).

Whilst the Quldafjordian Scholars and Students have meticulously mapped the Age of the Third Clans, those in Olivia have had to deal with a less reliable set of records to paint the picture of our history; a great number of oral stories, trading agreements between merchants, original charters and declarations of victory by the many early Kingdoms. There are many pages written to assist in recording major events, and it would be a foolish errand to try and encompass these texts into one large monolithic compendium. Instead, I choose to provide the initial piece of work that can form as an index to the periods of history one may be most interested in. An brief and abridged history of Olivia, to serve as a starting point to any curious Historian or Apprentice.
