Pride and Prejudice is an absolute classic of regency literature and also one of the first of a new kind of novel for the era, one which found comedy in the absurdity of every day social situations - a comedy of manners. It is also one of my very favourite stories, in all its forms and adaptations. Since it is public domain, I have reproduced the text here.

In my previous life as a classical musician, I spent many hours studying the music and culture of Jane Austen's world, and performed a series of concerts singing and playing the music from her own personal collection. Jane was a keen pianist, and a lover of music, fashion and poetry. Her collection of music and her letters showcase some of the rich cultural life of the era.

In this publication of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, I'll be endeavouring to add cultural context to the book by including images and music from the period. I also include an audio-book version - home made, so please do not expect studio-quality! - of the novel for those who prefer to listen than to read.

It is my hope that you fall in love with this story, as I have done.
