Main Entrance
The front doors of the Spaceport still look very similar to what they did when the 'port started its life as a shopping mall.
On either side of the multiple sets of sliding glass doors are glass display areas showcasing scenes from fantasy and science fiction fandoms. These spaces are set against a garden backdrop, giving the displays a sense that they call the passers by in to experience other worlds.
Once through the doors, the visitors come to the ticket booths where they pay their admission fee and are given a badge with a red stripe on it. This badge doubles as a source of payment for items within the 'port, resolving any pesky currency exchange issues. Each visitor is provided with an initial credit balance that will usually cover a meal at Blue's Bar or an afternoon of play at the Arcade. Kiosks on either side of the entrance are available for exchanging currency when leaving or topping up funds as needed.
Once the visitor is past the doors and the ticket booths, the view opens up into the Grand Entry Hall, a view deliberately expansive and engaging.
Alien visitors are not permitted to exit the building, so the Main Entrance also serves as a reminder to them that beyond these doors they are in violation of the planet's interdiction laws. Security personnel are stationed in this area to prevent anyone from accidentally leaving.
Of course, aliens aren't always aware of the rules and which entrance is appropriate for them to use.
Purpose / Function
This is a doorway from the normal human existence to the 'port. For some, it represents moving into a space where fun and entertainment abound. For others, it is moving into a space where it is safe to interact with humanity.
