Roof

The roof of the main Spaceport building boasts an elaborate garden with pathways and sitting areas designed to promote conversation and relaxation. This is one of many areas within the 'port where visitors are encouraged to gather and communicate with those from other places in the galaxy.

The landing pad on the roof is intended only for light weight vehicles like Bubble Shuttles. Hangar space is limited. Extra-terrestrial visitors are encouraged to park their craft at the orbital Space Station and to come to the port using one of the available shuttles. If you enter the 'port from the roof, note that the ticketing facilities are limited.

Guest and staff rooms in the hotel boast a variety of city views, but those that overlook the roof are always at a premium. Please let the receptionist know if you want a roof view room during your reservation process.

Visitors are discouraged from adding plants to the garden area as extra-terrestrial foliage must be screened to ensure it will not become invasive. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Purpose / Function

The Spaceport building was originally designed as a sustainable living facility. As such, the roof was intended to provide at least some of the produce needed to feed the residents. While much of the produce used today is imported, some herbs and specialized crops are still grown on the roof. However these are limited to those with a more scenic footprint so that they do not detract from the esthetic gathering space that it has become.

Alterations

The decorative landing pad was added in 1999 and reinforced in 2001 after it was determined that the current structure was inadequate for the weight of visitor's ships.
